Certificates are awarded to candidates who successfully complete programs in the following schedules. Please indicate your choice clearly in the application form.

Module 1: Three (3) hours a day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm)


Module 2: Four (4) hours a day (9:00 am – 1:00 pm)


Kiswahili Language and Culture courses (Choose between 4, 6 to 8 weeks programs

  1. Beginning Kiswahili I & II
  2. Intermediate Kiswahili I & II
  3. Advanced Kiswahili I&II
  4. Superior Level Kiswahili (texts and contexts, – contemporary issues in the context of the Swahili world)


Kiswahili for Specific Purpose Programs – Advanced Kiswahili (SWA 300 level) courses and above

  1. SWA 300T: Introduction to Literature in Kiswahili
  2. SWA 301T: Introduction to Linguistics in Kiswahili
  3. SWA 302T: Kiswahili for Social and Health Science Research
  4. SWA 303T: Advanced Kiswahili for Legal Services
  5. SWA 304T: Advanced Kiswahili for Politics and Business Services
  6. SWA 305T: Advanced Kiswahili for Environmental and Conservation issues
